How it all started?
Capezio is an eponymous brand established by Salvatore Capezio; after migrating to the USA, he started a quaint shoe repair shop near the Metropolitan Opera House. Though in the beginning he was just repairing theatrical shoes, he became a prominent shoe-maker with his invention of pointe shoes.
Specialized shoes for dancers
And from there, he worked with and went on to personally design a great number of innovative theatre-shoes for many famous dancers and thus became a big name in the dance-shoe business. The subsequent CEOs of the company expanded the business to include different types of leotards and other clothing and accessories required by dancers.
