Cleansing the water
When a plant is kept in an unclean and water setting for a long, the plant growth stunts and slowly starts to decay; this is because many pathogens like pythium will be formed in the water, and the plant's focus would be on fighting them off. Changing and cleaning the water is thus necessary, and several cleansing liquids can be diluted in the system in small quantities.
