The Essence of Owning a Metal Halide Bulb:
Halide is any compound containing a halogen group namely chlorine, bromine or iodine. Metal halide bulbs are electrical lamps producing an electric arc due to a gaseous mixture of mercury and metal halides. They generate a high-intensity discharge to radiate to an optimal level. Sodium iodide is the most commonly used metal halide compound in such bulbs. Based on the combination used in crafting a bulb, it may radiate a massive colour temperature.

Probe start lamps are cheaper and traditional systems while pulse start lamps are the modern systems of ballast. Probe start uses three electrodes to give the lamp functioning viz. one starting electrode and two operating electrodes. Pulse start doesn't have a starting electrode and uses the two operating electrodes to ignite the lamp.The arc of the tube can either be protected or unprotected. Protected arcs have a rigid covering around the arc. Metal halide bulbs may have a non-passive end of life, i.e., they explode before their tenure terminates. The protected casing will absorb all the broken parts of the arc and secure the people around it. Quartz tubes operate at lower temperatures while ceramic pipes can withstand high temperatures as well. The burn position should be such that the bulb should work efficiently at all angles.
