Top 12 Tungsten Rods

Tungsten rod manufacturing is through the sintering process of pure tungsten powders. Different industries incorporate the usage of various grades of rods. The primary texture finishes are ground, polish, or clean. From cutting blades to radiation shields, tungsten is a part of the raw components. The metal is known for its high density and high absorption capacity.

Tungsten Rods Buying Guide

Tungsten rods formation is through powder metallurgy, where liquefaction is not a prerequisite. Tungsten carbide and tungsten iron use most of the tungsten. Grades differentiation puts forth different levels of wear resistance and corrosion resistance in the rods. This metal's purity ranges from 99.95%- 99.99% and is also available in coarse fractions.

Types of tungsten rods

There are pure tungsten rods and tungsten alloy rods. A low-pressure sintering integrated furnace produces tungsten carbide rods, which is a tough alloy. The composition of tungsten carbide includes tungsten metal and carbon. Other alloy compositions have a mix of nickel and copper. A high-temperature pressing technique is used for massive alloy rod formations. Alloys are easier to handle than pure tungsten. There is also a cobalt mix alloy variety available.

Uses of tungsten rods

Pure tungsten rods are perfect for machinists and research and development. The rods attain hardness and toughness by balancing the tungsten-copper grain proportion and the binder phase composition. Cemented carbide rods are applicable in manufacturing mills and watch parts. Fixed length polished shafts have high-speed cutting performance, making it apt for cutters or knives. Pure tungsten rods have microstructure and recrystallization properties. Consumers can find its application from the furnace support pillars to the rear earth smelting. The tungsten alloy rods have a higher density, making it reliable for industry use such as aviation, aerospace, or crystal production.

Tungsten bars are known for their robustness

Tungsten copper rods are most suitable for resistance welding. It has exceptional electrical conductivity. Tungsten has the highest melting point amongst all the non-alloyed metals, maintaining durability at high temperatures. Carbide round bars are suitable for processing of stainless steel or nickel-base and titanium alloy. Higher grade, unpolished tungsten rods only corrode slightly in the exposure to mineral acids. The alloy rods have greater tensile strength than pure tungsten rods. Rough tungsten-cobalt carbide round bars are open to refinement according to any tolerance.
