Info About Brief und Buch & Brief und Buch Store
Hand-drawn bobbin lace patterns, called Klöppelbriefe, are the store's signature. Each one comes with a technical drawing that shows how to work the piece on the bobbins. Inge Theuerkauf designs every pattern herself. The styles offered include Torchon, Flanders lace, tulle lace and Parisian lace, along with several Bloemwork variants: Brügge fine and coarse, Florentine and Chrysanthe.
Patterns are grouped by object rather than by technique alone. Shawls, fans and curtains each have their own section, and edgings appear in round and corner versions. Christmas designs and miniature fans for dolls are listed separately. Binche and full-work patterns form their own groups, and a further section covers individual and unusual shapes.
The shop sells books published by Theuerkauf, including a short introduction to lace making. A personal page about the designer is included as well. All text is in German, and the shop is run from Germany.
