In 1856, the first German terry loom went into operation in Großschönau in Saxony, the town where MÖVE still produces today. The brand itself dates from 1927, when it was launched in Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg. Legend has it that the name, spelled with a V in that era, comes from the founder's love of the Baltic Sea. MÖVE outfitted German Olympic teams in 1952 and 1968. Today the company is a family business in its third generation, with over 240 employees and apprentices.
