The shoes by Onitsuka Tiger have created an identity as a contemporary fashion statement in the footwear market. Inspirations behind the famous designs

The famous 1951's OK Basketball Shoe by Onitsuka Tiger was inspired by an octopus that got stuck in a salad bowl of Kihachiro Onitsuka. Similarly, the lightweight Magic Runner series from 1960 was inspired by a moment when Mr. Onitsuka was taking a bath, and the water pruned his toes. The Runspark Series in 1964 was introduced at the Tokyo Games held in the same year, debuted the brand's first fixed track spikes for the athletes.
