Info About filzformen & filzformen Store
Felt toys are designed, developed and made in small batches at the Filzwerkstatt in the Kammgarnspinnerei, the former site of a large Augsburg textile factory. The toys are made from fine merino wool tops, which are dyed in more than 30 colors according to the studio's own color card. Felt balls, play cords and other shapes make up the toy range, and the workshop is run by Monika Fergg.
The shop also sells mountain sheep wool, needle fleece, felting tools and books. Material kits include instructions, and one small kit comes in a box with glass, candles, wool, tools and a booklet that explains how the patterned felt is made. Courses are held in the workshop itself, where the makers pass on their techniques.
Visitors to the workshop can see the shelves of finished products and buy loose merino and other fibers in small amounts. The workshop sits opposite the Staatliches Textil- und Industriemuseum Augsburg (tim), which covers textile history, and the restaurant nunó is nearby.
Orders ship within Germany and to Austria, with other countries handled on request. Payment is possible by PayPal, credit card or SEPA direct debit, but not on invoice. Because the products are handmade rather than mass produced, delivery usually takes up to 14 working days from payment.
