Info About Goldhandbooks & Goldhandbooks Store

Illustrator Sarah Nickel started the store's London calendar in 2014, after sketching landmarks such as Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the red telephone box while living in the city. Her calendars are A3 format with spiral or ring binding, and each annual edition is limited to 20 copies with twelve new illustrations. Other calendars show New Zealand landscapes and the flora of La Réunion, and both are now sold out. Nickel also contributes to RED BLACK LONDON, a blog project with five London enthusiasts that publishes illustrated sightseeing tips and insider recommendations.

The store also carries work by glass artist Wolfgang Nickel, including a 2018 church window calendar limited to 30 copies and a booklet of 22 glass pictures paired with Japanese love poems. Postcards form another line: a set of four glossy A6 cards explains New Zealand slang such as "good as gold" and "bloody hell", with space on the back for writing. The two-part book "New Zealand: A Year Among Kiwis" follows Sarah searching for the elusive kiwi bird across both main islands, and the poetry collection "Petal Leaves" is illustrated by hand.
