Info About La Savonnerie Marius Fabre & La Savonnerie Marius Fabre Store

The 100% olive oil Marseille soap bar, sold in a 150g size with a case, is made in cauldrons that have been in use since 1900. Marius Fabre set up his soap factory that year at the age of 22, in a shed at the bottom of his garden in Salon-de-Provence. During the First World War his wife, Marie, ran the business and made and sold the soap with the help of an old Italian foreman. The company moved in 1927 to a larger site, the former Couderc factory, and the family has now passed the business through four generations. Free guided tours of the factory are offered, along with free entry to the Marseille Soap Museum.

The lineup goes well beyond bar soap. It includes liquid soaps made with olive oil, coconut oil or bay laurel oil, black soap for cleaning, plants and the body, Aleppo soap, and shea butter toilet soaps. Body and hair care, hand and foot creams, candles, household linen and books are also sold, as are products for dogs and horses. Personalised soaps and gift boxes are available, and the company has produced collaborations with the Patrouille de France and the Élysée. Workshops let participants make their own natural cosmetics, customise a soap or stamp one. The company is a Labeled Living Heritage Company and states that its soap is made in France, with orders delivered within 72 hours.
