Unlike most shops of its kind, Grundschulkönig gives much of its material away. Many exercise sheets for German and maths are free to download, and sample worksheets are offered across every primary school subject it covers. The catalogue is sorted by school year, from first grade through fourth, with separate sections for grades five to nine and for children starting school. Subjects include German, maths, Sachkunde (general science and social studies), English and seasonal topics organised by the calendar year.

Material for purchase comes in bundles called Königspakete and in printed Arbeitshefte, or workbooks. The German pages cover reading, handwriting, spelling and grammar, including the four cases, conjunctions and the difference between "das" and "dass". Dictation sets include 99 short dictations in two volumes. Literature pages offer fables, poems and fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. The maths pages run through number ranges up to one million, Roman numerals, fractions and divisibility rules.

The exercises are written by experienced, active teachers, and the About page describes a small team that explains each task and is building a database of primary school knowledge. Teachers register for an account to access materials for their classes. English-language maths sheets are published under the EduKing name.
