Friedrich Soennecken's binder and hole punch are among the inventions behind this German office supplies group, which has operated since 1875. Soennecken is now a cooperative of about 460 affiliated trading companies, supported by more than 470 employees. Two logistics centres supply those partners with roughly 40,000 brand-name goods and the group's exclusive Soennecken label, and the company is a leading trading cooperation in German-speaking countries.

The group is split into specialist companies, each serving a different part of the working world. Nordanex Systemverbund supports IT system houses with managed services and, in 2026, added the software supplier SOS Software Service to its supplier network, expanding offers in IT security, IT infrastructure and software licensing. A separate partnership with G DATA CyberDefense brings security solutions and managed security services to member system houses. Erstling equips kindergartens and schools, while wir sind raum develops creative room solutions for new ways of working. Ortloff runs a retail shop for stationery, writing culture and gift articles.

The group's stated mission is to make work more liveable, with people in Germany's varied working and learning environments at the centre. Its values, as set out in its online materials, are reliability, partnership and solidity, and the cooperative describes its members and employees as the drivers of a better working world. Nordanex has grown to nearly 300 member companies over 20 years and holds a symposium for managed IT services, which drew more than 120 participants in its second edition.
